Album Review: Minah (Girl's Day) "I Am A Woman Too"

Girl's Day resident cutie and power belter Minah, released her first solo album entitled "I Am a Woman Too." I actually didn't expect this to happen, I know she has an incredible voice plus Girl's Day garnered a lot of attention in the past years making them more popular now, but I was expecting more of a unit from Girl's Day, more like a Sojin & Minah duet or perhaps a Yura & Minah tandem to happen. But none the less, I'm still rooting for these girls, coz I freaking adore them, so here I am listening to my girl Minah as she trails her way into spotlight. Fighting!

The Ep contains 5 tracks, with 3 original songs and 2 instrumentals. And first up on the list is That's So Weird featuring Kanto of Troy. Upon hearing the  first few seconds, this song automatically reminded me of Tamia's Officially Missing You. I know they don't sound alike that much, but still there were parts of this song especially the guitar strumming that really has the Tamia feels to it. Anywho, the song simply talks about the feeling of being in love; that she feels strange on how she can't stop looking to his pictures, doesn't know what to wear, doesn't know how to react when he's around, and why she misses him all the time. Love is indeed weird right? Haha. Aside from it's cutely written yet straight forward lyrics and it's feel good R&B-ish tempo, I really love Kanto's rap parts in this song, it added flavor to the song making it more interesting to my ears.

Next is I Am A Woman Too, the EP's title track. First of all, Minah really looks beautiful in the MV, though she looked like she matured way too much her actual age because of her make up and styling, I think she somehow managed to pull it off in her own way and gosh I envy her legs on that video. As a song, I give it a thumbs up, but for being the album's title track, well maybe its a bit no for me. I know she sang it beautifully with all those whisper/falsetto like notes or whatsoever, plus she looked and sounded really sexy which I think serve its sole purpose which is to make Minah more appealing to her adoring fans especially her male fans. But honestly, it sounded like everything was in chaos, and I really am not digging the fan chant like raps on every verse of the song. Furthermore, I'm still on the process of understanding on why there is a "Sing it with me now" and "I love you, love you (well there is nothing wrong with these lyrics per se, but the "eyy's and uh uh"s were disturbing for me) part. I know it made the song more memorable and catchy, but it really threw me off.  I don't know, I am not really feeling it as of the moment.

Third is Colorful, if I were to choose which song I prefer to be the EP's title track, I will definitely pick this one. First, this song really showcased her vocal prowess, unlike the first two songs where it felt like her singing were a little restricted.. Second, when I first heard it, I already know it's the Minah song, something that was really meant for her to sing and perform, coz to me the first two songs especially the title track made me think and feel that Sojin would be a better fit on singing and performing it. Third, this song is lively, cheery and adorable with just Minah singing it, like there is no need for her to look and act very sexy to prove her existence. I mean, her voice and singing abilities were already appealing and sexy so why overdo it right? I also think its better to see her cute and sexy rather than matured and sexy.

The last 2 songs were instrumentals, so I guess this concludes my review on Minah's first album. Honestly, the album appeals to me like it was rushed and no proper planning was made. I heard that Dream Tea Entertainment said that they have been preparing for Minah's album way before and that preparations were made, but it doesn't appeal to me like they did everything though. Up to this date, I'm still wondering on how, why and when did this all happen, I know, Girl's Day has been in the music industry for quite some time and yes I really think they deserve to at least have solo's or units, but everything really feels rushed and weird. They should have at least released teaser videos of her preparing for the album, not just BAM! Minah will be releasing her first album this March straight to your face. Anywho, even though I still feel weird about it, I will continue to listen to this album, maybe one day I'll get to love everything about it and not feel strange at all.So I guess, its a 7/10 for me. It's a little rough and please for her next EP at least devise a good plan for it. I also think at least this EP has decent and ear worthy words and beats unlike other songs/EP's that I have encountered lately. It also has the Minah feels/vibe to it, which is very girly so I still like it. Since Minah has debuted as a solo artist, I am hoping for a Sojin solo or a unit perhaps? Please! And before I forgot, Congratulations Minah for your debut and Fighting!!

This post is purely based on my opinion and music preferences. No hating please.

Album Review: Donghae & Eunhyuk (Super Junior) "The Beat Goes On"

This is purely based on my opinion and music preferences. No hating please.

Alas! My favorite Super Junior couple Donghae & Eunhyuk (YES! I ship them. Oh, such beautiful creatures.) have finally released their very first physical album entitled "The Beat Goes On." Flashback to 2012, when I first saw them in Oppa, Oppa! Man, these two rocked that yellow and red suits and still manage to be super handsome even they look and act silly. Woot! Anywho, since it was already a very long wait for ELF's especially Eunhae Elf's like me, there is no better way to show my love to them but to indulge my ears with their music and how about I share my insights to other Elf''s as well.  자!!

The album opens with The Beat Goes On, a feel good EDM filled song that to me sounded like a remix/mash up of Bonamana, Sorry Sorry, Sexy Free & Single & Mamacita (for the aya ya part) with a pinch of f(x)'s whimsical music. It even made me think, maybe this song was meant for Super Junior or at least they considered it right? It totally has that Super Junior feels in it.

Next up the album's title track, Growing Pains. It starts off with a soft guitar riff then accompanied by another set of whimsical piano (not really sure though) notes. Donghae's vocals were perfect and on point as well as Eunhyuk's killer rap. The chorus part was definitely an eargasm moment for me, their voices blended perfectly without overpowering one another. And can I just say that I am starting to fall in love with Eunhyuk's voice. Before I always see him as a rapper, but because of this song (actually the EP), I realized I missed a lot and what the hell have I been doing ignoring Eunhyuk's voice this whole time. Ughh! I'm sorry my Anchovy. This song is just perfect for me, nuff said. A trivial note: This song was composed and written by Donghae; not just a beautiful man, he really has talent. I love you Oppa! (fangirling moment!)

D&E continues to cause arrhythmias to my kpop heart with Sweater and Jeans. With a more laid back and a little mellow beat, the boys serenades with lyrics:
"You are my vintage sweater and jeans
Always on my body"
&
"Would you be my forever?
Be my Marilyn, I'll be your James Dean."
Like seriously? Who wouldn't fall for that, right? Ugh! What a tease. Anyway, Eunhyuk continues to mesmerize me with his lovely voice. With no rap parts for this track, this song really showcased both of their sweet voices, and I feel like Eunhyuk is singing his parts effortlessly than Donghae. Haha

Breaking Up, a very interesting break up track opens up in a very opera like manner, with string instruments setting its beat then gradually catches into a groovy disco tempo. How can a break up song be this groovy and feel good, right? But then realization strikes, it's kpop, nothing is impossible so might as well live with it. Plus I really like it, though its about breaking up, the beat itself is really addicting.

Lights, Camera, Action!, Okay, this is current morning prep jam. It really gets me all pumped up and ready to start the day and YES, I put my hands up when "LET ME SEE YOUR HANDS UP" plays. Why not? Its hella catchy and really gets me going. And I also feel like I'm partying with them whenever this song plays. Haha! So YOLO!

Next is Can You Feel It?, when I first heard of it, I know this is going to be another Oppa Oppa! moment for me. And yes, my boys didn't disappoint me. So yesterday, as I am doing my youtube browsing, I saw this thumbnail "150315 Super junior D&E - Can You Feel It @ M! Countdown", clicked on it and BAM! flashback and memories of my obsession and fangirling during the Oppa Oppa days. I honestly can't find the right words to describe my happiness seeing them super cute with their little pigtails on. Kyaaa!! Though the song is basically the least of being beautifully written in this EP with its repetitive lyrics and other mindless elements on it, this song for me is still entertaining both in my eyes and ears, I guess its better not to google about the lyrics so it wouldn't spoil the fun and of course the feels. Haha!

Wrapping things up and another Donghae masterpiece brought to life is Mother. A heartwarming ballad  full of gratitude and love dedicated for their mothers. With sweet lyrics like:
Love you Mother, I love you
Like no other, I thank you
Now I'll be your strength and return that big smile
Im pretty sure, every mother or woman who heard this will feel warm and loved inside. Oh! Donghae, you really are the sweetest. I also like, the almost acapella part, where I imagined Donghae and Eunhyuk singing this is front of their moms then a choir pops out singing the song with them clapping, swaying and moving in similar directions. By the way, I heard Eunhyuk's mom despised Donghae before because Donghae is always trolling on Eunhyuk, with this song I hope her feelings towards Donghae would soften at least. Haha.

I'm giving this a 9/10. I really love and waited for this album for such a long time. To me this album gave me what I expected it to be, though there were little bumps and missed turns, I really think they have provided an ear-worthy album that will be on my playlist for a very long time. And I still can't help myself on obsessing with Eunhyuk's voice, so yes this album sure is a keeper. Another thing that I really liked about this album is that, it never made me feel bored while listening to it, there were different music elements in it that really made me hit the repeat button multiple times. I already know in my guts, that this EP will do real good in any music program or even in record sales, so I'm congratulating them in advance. All I wish is for them is to continue making good music and please grant us, the Eunhae Elf's our eternal wish which is for the two of you to live happily ever after. Haha. Kiddin'. Again, Kudos Donghae and Eunhyuk.

The A-List: My Top 3 Most Awaited KPOP Group Debuts of 2015

According to Wikipedia, there are a total of 23 KPOP rookie groups who will debut this year. Amongst all of these groups from different entertainment companies, I picked out 3 of these rookie groups that I've been wanting and waiting to debut this 2015. .I've known these groups for quite sometime and had been following them through social media, news and entertainment articles, cameos, etc. and now that its 2015, I really can't wait to see them perform on stage and debut as mainstream KPOP artists.

First up is Cube Entertainment's first multinational girl group, CLC (Crystal Clear). It is a 5 member girl group consisting of Seunghee, Sorn, Yoojin, Seungyeon, and Yeeun. So how did these girls got my attention? Flashback in 2011, when Thai contestant Sorn won the very first season of Kpop Star Hunt. I can clearly remember how she used to have black/brown hair plus she really looks like Selena Gomez' twin sister. During that time, I appreciate more of her dancing than her singing, and now as years passed with her, training under Cube Entertainment, and after watching clips of CLC's street performances in Hongdae, I've become to appreciate more of her singing. I really think her hard work really payed off. Plus points as well for they can play different kinds of musical instruments which I think is refreshing to see among K-girl groups. According to different K-media sites and Cube Entertainment, CLC will be debuting this March 19, and Yay! I really can't wait. Plus their teaser images/profiles were really cute. I'm 100% supporting these girls and I hope other Kpop fanatics will love them as well. Fighting!

iKON. I've known iKON since WIN: Who is Next?, where they were originally known as Team B without the participation of iKON's current maknae Chanwoo. It is a 7 member hip hop boy group under YG Entertainment consisting of B.I, Bobby, Jinhwan, Jon Hoe, Yun Hyeong, Dong Hyuk and Chanwoo. Before becoming iKON, they had undergone 2 reality/survival shows namely WIN: Who is next and Mix&Match. During WIN, they were known as Team B, but unfortunately faced defeat with Team A, popularly known as WINNER now. After a bitter defeat, they were once again put into test in Mix&Match, where the final iKON line up was determined. This group already made impact to my KPOP heart during their stages and performances on both shows plus they are very quirky and hella funny. I also adore their mad skills both in singing (especially in making their songs) and dancing, they are really good and knows how to put a kick ass performance. I strongly recommend to watch their performances in WIN and Mix&Match, and mind you guys, you will really fall for these guys.

Last but not the least is Monsta X. They are the new boy group to debut under Starship Entertainment, consisting of 7 members namely Shownu, Wonho, Minhyuk, Kihyun, Hyungwon, Jooheon and IM. I'll be honest here, I've only known these boys for like 3 weeks but I really am addicted to them right now. In the past weeks, I am researching about these boys like a maniac (but a decent one of course, no harm intended just pure love for them) and based on my little reasearch, these boys were formerly  known as Starship Boys.  Some of them were also former members of underground KPOP groups. Like iKON, they were also a product of a reality/survival show called No Mercy. I have to admit, when I first saw the teasers of the show, I really convinced myself not to watch it coz they'll be like a copycat of iKON, and I really regret what I did, only if I could turn back time, I really will. I know they are both hip hop groups but to me there is no need to compare these two groups, they are unique in their own ways. Plus the more hip hop group the better right? Hahaha! I am a fan of hip hop music, so I guess there is no other choice for me but to love them. I know I need to research more about these boys, but based on their performances in No Mercy, I really think these boys will have a shot in dominating the KPOP industry this year. So I wish them luck, and please debut them soon Starship.

With these 3 rookie groups just waiting to debut this year, I really am hoping they can have all the love, support and attention that they deserve. I also hope that they will be considered and be tagged as the Super Rookies of 2015 just like Winner, Got7 and Lovelyz in the past year. I am supporting these groups in every way that I can and I hope other KPOP fanatics will appreciate and love them as well. I also wish the best of luck to other K-groups that will debut this year, and I promise to find time to like them as well. But for now, I just want to say "Fighting to CLC, iKON and Monsta X.!"

Album Review: Niel (Teentop) "oNIELy"

This is a very late post, I've been really busy lately. I'm sorry Niel. This is still purely based on my music preferences and taste, so no hating please.

FACTS: I am a new Angel (Teentop fan). I became a fan last year (2014), while watching Weekly Idol Episode 115 "Teentop - Rocking" - Random Play Dance. Bias: Chunji. Bias Wrecker: Niel.

Since he is my Teentop Bias Wrecker, there is no way I won't make a review on his very first solo mini album. Truth is, I've been listening to this album since its release and have taken some notes on what I think of this album. So without making this later than it is, shall we start?

The album opens with, Only You a slow R&B-ish track. To me, this song sounded so sexy that it reminded me of Usher's Nice n Slow and Chris Brown's Take Me Down. It really sounded sexual to me (but in a good way of course) that I sometimes daydream of Niel singing this song in front of me while sexy dancing (Haha), well this song is about making love anyway, so I guess my feelings towards this song is somehow appropriate right? I also like how his voice just rides and flows with the song's beat, especially those whispers, "ahh's" and "oh yeah's", it's so freaking sexy to hear. For me this song, left a good impression and what to expect from the album, those others think that it was a weak opening track for it lacks the usual "umpft" that we hear in Teentop's albums or from what we usually hear from Niel himself, I really think this song left a good impression that our favorite mudskipper has now bloomed into a sexy manly namja.

Lovekiller, the album's title track. The song started out with Niel's soft voice accompanied by an acoustic guitar, then it gradually catches up to a more upbeat tempo which I think made the song interesting. I know, this is not the newest trick in the box, but to me it's one of the songs who gave justice in using this technique, that it added flavor and swag that really matches the mood of the song and the choreography as well (thumbs up to those MJ inspired steps as well). The lyrics were also good and clever, and of course his voice is perfection. The only thing that threw me off with this song is the rap part; it didn't ruin the song but it also didn't made the song better. For me this song was already beautiful even without the rap part.

Affogato, a pre-released bittersweet breakup song featuring Teentop's leader, CAP. When I first heard and saw this on Youtube, I immediately googled on what this song is about and what is an "Affogato". It turns out, Affogato is an Italian ice cream dessert with an espresso topping, and that it reflects on the song's message which is the bitterness of a breakup like the dessert. I really love the lyrics of this song and how it was written, I feel like Niel was really telling me his heartbreaking story, like I was walking with him in that cafe. I also like his vocals here, it has those Niel falsetto's mixed with his sweet voice, which makes this song refreshing to the ears. This is definitely one of my top tracks in this album.

When I saw the teaser photos for this album, I know this will be MJ inspired and boom, I was right. Lady, an all the way MJ inspired track featuring another Teentop member/rapper, L.Joe. To me this song is once again one of those MJ copycats that we always hear from artists whose musical influence is MJ. Well, I'm not hating on the song, in fact I think its one of those MJ copycat songs that sounded really good and hella addicting. I like its beat and his vocals which I think really sounded a little MJ-ish. I also like L. Joe's rap part, because unlike what Dok2 did in Lovekiller, L.Joe rap did not killed the mood that the song has and I also think that part gave me a breather from all those Niel's MJ like singing. One last thing, I really think this song has a similar sound on Crush's Hey Baby featuring Zion T.

After a very upbeat track, Niel once again slows it down with a sweet and tempting "cheating" inspired track in Call Me. Yes, its about cheating. Based on my understanding of the song's lyrics, Niel was trying to persuade the girl to call him whenever she feels lonely or if her current boyfriend hurts her, that he will always pick up and be there for her, and that the girl should keep their little rendezvous a secret first, so I guess it's about cheating right? Aside from its very tempting lyrics, I also like how his sweet vocals compliments the beat smoothly. At some point when I first heard of this track, I really thought it was a Teentop song that I missed on their Exito album, this track to me gives off that Teentop feels to it.

Niel continues to slow it down with another slow to mid tempo track Epilogue. If Call Me was about cheating, well this time I think the so called "forbidden relationship" hit rock bottom as this song was about breaking up. Well of course, I just assumed and made up a story in my tiny little head that the girl she was trying to get in Call Me, really became his girlfriend and after some time of being in love with each other, they just fell apart, thus this song was made. (Tap on my back for making this up HAHA). Aside from its sad meaning, this track made me feel like I'm waiting for more, that I'm hanging for a little bit, it even made me think "That's it? Was it over?". I don;t know I just feel like it's an unfinished track for me.

And last but definitely not the least track from oNIELy, Song of an Angel. Honestly, when I first heard this song, I was a little annoyed for I can't clearly hear what he was saying and he sounded like he's mumbling and just randomly whispering korean phrases to me. But as I continue to listen to it, my heart and ears gradually opens to listen to his soft voice, it's like he's singing me a lullaby to sleep. In this song, Niel portrays himself as an angel who is looking after a person who is very dear to him, and for some weird reason, I think this song was his little way of thanking Angel's (Teentop's fans) for always being there for them, and that he wants to reciprocate that love through this song. I know its not very cheesy and like straight to your face "Thank you and I love you Angel", but for me, this song really touched the "Angel (Only Teentop) part of my heart. I don't know maybe I'm just overthinking things, maybe he was just randomly singing it for another person. Uggh! Anyway, I also think this song is a good ending track for this EP.

Overall, I'm giving this a 7/10. Truth is, I guess I expected way to much from Niel, but I still think this is a good EP. I see myself listening to this from time to time especially the title track, I just can't get enough of Niel's MJ moves and he's voice was really perfect in that song. The whole album itself, gives off a very relaxing vibe, where I can see myself listening to this while sipping a cup of coffee on a lazy afternoon or when I'm just too lazy to get off my bed. Though, it didn't quite reach my expectation, I still hope this is only the beginning of Niel's solo career, coz honestly, even though I am a Chunji bias, I really love Niel's voice, it's really sweet, soft and nice to my ears. Everytime I hear him singing it's like his flirting with my ears. Haha. I hope next time, his next EP will have different flavors it in, not just slow and sad ones, add more fun in it like what "Lady" has. And lastly a TEENTOP comeback soon please.

A's recommended tracks: "Lovekiller", "Affogato" "Lady".

Album Review: Amber (f(x)) "Beautiful"

It was in the last quarter of 2014, when my sister told me that Amber of f(x) will be having a solo debut on 2015. At first I was "Are you serious? Amber?? Not Krystal or Luna?? Well let's be honest, Amber is definitely one of the "underrated idols" there is, so upon hearing that of course its really hard to believe right? But she just said, "Yes, its Amber!"

And so, we patiently waited, until finally last February 12, SM Entertainment officially released Amber's very first mini album, entitled "Beautiful". So without further ado shall we start?

P.S. This is purely based on my opinion. Either you agree or disagree, its your own choice, just no hating please :)

First up, Beautiful, when I first heard of this song, I had goosebumps all over my body. Yes, I've heard Amber sing beautifully in A Song For You multiple times using her guitar but this song is different and definitely raise the bar higher. Never did I expect that f(x)'s resident tomboy rapper can pull off such sweet and soft voice. It was very surreal. How can SM Entertainment deprived its listeners of these beautiful voice by just giving her rap parts in all f(x)'s songs (really SM Ent? why so unfair tsk tsk). Through this song, I've got to see and hear Amber's different side. Her sweet, soft and fragile side, which I really like by the way, plus the words she used for this song were beautifully composed and arranged that it really reflects her. It really is amazingly pleasant to see and hear the quirky Amber that we all loved and cherish being so delicate like a flower, feminine and a little fragile.

Next is Shake That Brass, okay folks, I'll be honest, I know that this song is hella catchy and good. In fact an LSS worthy track for me, the horn/trot sound, the na na na na, everything. It also makes me want to sing and dance every time I hear this song, but (Yes, its a but), this song for me is really out of place in the album, it somehow ruined the balance of the album a little. It has a very upbeat and dancy tempo which is very different among the other tracks in this album, plus this song did not showcased Amber's beautiful and soft voice (which I am addicted to right now). One more thing is that, I really think featuring Taeyeon for this song didn't make the song better or more beautiful, in fact Amber singing this track alone is already ear worthy, so I'm sorry Taeyeon (Taeyeon stans and SONE's as well). I also have this feeling that Taeyeon was featured here for promotion purposes only. (I know Amber said she was a fan of Taeyeon thats why she asked her to sing for this song, but still I'm sticking to what I feel, peace :))

The third and one of my favorites, Love Run. Everytime this song plays, I see myself, in the middle of the crowd dancing next to the person who is very dear to me while Amber sings softly with her mic stand and a live band. For some unknown reason, this song gives me the feeling of attending my very first prom and my man and I dances cutely and sweet to this song haha ( Am I weird?) It just feels so romantic to me, like love is definitely in the air feeling. Hahaha. The lyrics are very beautiful too, she is waiting and longing for someone, though it may take long or she may feel tired of waiting, still she will run and chase for that love. It may sound a little sad and empty at first, still it makes you feel that love gives hope and without a doubt there is hope in love. And one more thing, the melody and those beautiful words really suit the song perfectly.

Next is Heights, another upbeat tempo track, but unlike Shake that Brass, this song gives of a more smooth and relax vibe to it. It also gives the same feeling I always have when listening to Ariana Grande's Break Free, the feeling of you want to sing and belt with all those whispery Ariana notes. And this song certainly had those little Ariana notes, and kudos to Amber for singing those effortlessly, thumbs up for that girl! Haha. Well aside from singing it perfectly, I also think the lyrics of this song are very poetic and has a very optimistic meaning, which I really really love. Here's my favorite part by the way:

Here I go, I can’t stop, here I go
I’m starting inside a place where there is no beginning or end
So here I go, don’t hesitate, have faith
So here I go, fulfill the dreams you want, climb higher up there

I Just Wanna, a duet with Eric Nam. Truth is, I've never heard of Eric Nam nor any of his songs before, not until I saw him as a guest in Running Man. (Man! That episode was deabak! It was super funny especially during the Mud Party Part Haha) After hearing the first few seconds of the song, I was taken aback and said, "Wait, I've heard this before!" and my guts were right, this song is the english version of f(x)'s Goodbye Summer featuring DO of EXO in their Pink Tape album. Well how can I really forgot this song, it was my favorite from that album next to Shadow of course. But this time, the song had more positive tone and lyrics to it, more like a "love" love song, coz Goodbye Summer was really heartbreaking. I also like this duet better than the original, Im not hating Luna and DO, its just that Amber and Eric Nam's version was just so sweet and relatable, not only because of its cheesy lyrics but their voices were really perfect and complemented each other. I also like how simple the choice of words were, everything was written and sung on a very straight forward manner. I really hope to see them perform this song live on stage or even make a simple video for it. Please.

In summary, I'm giving this a 7.5/10. I still couldn't believe that Amber had that sweet soft voice all along, I'm a little disappointed in SM Entertainment for taking her talent for granted. It is indeed a very good debut album for her, it really did show another side of her which I really think is a bold move and an awesome one. Who could have thought that quirky and jolly Amber can be delicate and sweet Amber right?? I also would like to see her promote other songs from this album, not just "Shake that Brass" which I totally think made this album off. Please promote I Just Wanna and Love Run too. Though its already given, I'm still hoping to see more of Amber in the future, an acoustic EP maybe? Hahaha. And please collaborate with Eric Nam again. Hahaha. And before I forgot, Amber is certainly a not just a good singer but an awesome songwriter too. I really hope to hear more of her self composed songs in the future.

A's recommended tracks: "Love Run", "I Just Wanna"

Album Review: Infinite H (Dongwoo & Hoya of Infinite) 2nd Mini Album "Fly Again"

Finally, after two long years, Infinite H, my favorite kpop hip hop duo so far, is back with their second mini entitled "Fly Again". It contains seven tracks with "Pretty" as its title track.

So, where do I start? How about sharing how happy and excited I am about this album? Well first, Thank goodness, the long wait is finally over and yes, two years is a very long time, Woollim! Haha. I can still remember those days, when I've read about countless articles/rumors of Infinite H's comeback in 2014, then only to find out that they will only be having one track on Infinite's Season 2 album and no album nor a single comeback performance for them (sigh). So when, Woolliment announced their comeback this month, I was really happy and excited for I can once again see my precious Dongwoo rap, sing and dance. I know he usually do these things together with Infinite, but there is something in Infinite H, that makes me see him differently, it's like he really owns the stage, he gives out more awesome performances,he looks more manly and sexy, and he looks genuinely happy plus I can focus more all of my love for him since Sungyeol (my ultimate Infinite bias) is not around and of course more air time for him, which makes me more happy hahaha (Dongwoo Overload, Yes!). Dongwoo is my bias wrecker in Infinite by the way. Haha. So I hope you will all understand.

Until now, I am still listening and a fan of their first mini album, Fly High, I really love their songs "Without You" and "Special Girl" Hahaha. So, I am hoping that this album is similar or even better than the first one. Let's see, shall we? (P.S. This is once again purely subjective, No Hating Please :))

First up is "Fly Again" featuring DJ IT, this is the intro track of the album. The first time I heard this track, I was really getting the hip hop feel of the album. This track itself left me with good impressions and expectations of the whole album itself.

Next is "Pretty", this album's title track. This song reminded me of Special Girl from their first mini album, Fly High. It gives out a relaxing yet exciting vibe that Special Girl has, only this time I think Pretty is more fun to hear. I also think it is a perfect title song for this album, its refreshing, certainly feels good to hear and definitely catchy especially the oh la la la part. Haha. Hoya's flirty voice/tone really suits the chorus of the song while Dong Woo's sweet vocals compliments it. I really like how simple and laid-back this song is, from its lyrics down to its beats and melody, even the way they deliver their rap lines and their cute sexy dancing, its just so fun to hear and watch. Ahh! I really can't help but smile while listening to this track. It feels so damn good.

Im Not Going Anywhere featuring Yang Da Il. Everytime I listen to songs of Infinite, Tasty or Lovelyz, there will always be this one distinctive track that you can point out and say, "Oh! This is definitely Woollim", like a Woollim Quality Seal. For some reason, these songs have this old, disco, 70's to 80's feeling to it, and this track in particular, is one of them. Aside from this song being the "Woollim Sealed" track of this album, when I first heard this song, I really thought Woohyun was featured in this track. Im sorry, its just that Yang Da Il and Woohyun sounded so similar here. Haha. Also, I know this song may not sound very hip hop-y, mainly because of its disco vibe to it, but I still like this song, mainly because of Dong Woo's rap part. I know I'm being bias right now, but I really love Dong Woo's tone when he raps, it sounds so lazy, rough and manly to me, like the voice of a person who just woke up from a good night sleep. Hahaha. Truth be told, I really think that the "morning voice" is the sexiest tone of voice ever for me Haha.

Next is Collide/Life Goes On, featuring Soo Jung of Lovelyz. One, kudos to Soo Jung, her voice really suits this track and she delivered it perfectly. Second, I like how this song sounded so soft and mellow, like an acapella. It's refreshing, right?  Third, the lyrics and its meaning, this song is about them talking about their past, their hardships of being a student, a trainee, a dreamer, and now as Infinite H. I think this song was written to inspire, that no matter how hard life is, even when the whole world is up and against you, just bump against it and just go with the flow.

Im Busy, Sorry, a straight hip hop track featuring Swings and Champagne of Champagne & Candle. According to an article from Allkpop, this song was deemed inappropriate for broadcast by KBS due to cursing, slang and vulgar language used in the lyrics. Well, its true, but let's be honest here, these stuff makes a hip hop track unique from other music genres right? Its just them being honest. Truth is, I am not in any way offended by the lyrics used in this track, in fact I really find these words true and entertaining. It's hip hop, its normal to hear an artist curse and brag about everything that he/she had. Hahaha. How can you deprive the audience with such a great song, I really think its good and the beat is awesome, This track also reminds me of Kanye West's  All of the Lights and Chris Brown's Look at Me Now, the beat is somehow similar don't you think? And please don't be a hypocrite KBS :))

Next is Jekyll and Hyde featuring Taewan. It is just me or did everyone else heard people shouting or even fighting in the background? Ha ha. Then a random thought came into my mind, maybe this song is about breaking up with someone you love, so I immediately searched for this track's english translation, and I guess I was right. This song is about a guy thinking and believing that he is better off without his girl, but at the end of the day he realized that he misses her and his longing for her. Ohh, they are showing off their soft side. Hmmm interesting!!

Crazy/Only If You Are Crazy featuring Sanchez of Phantom, the last track from this album. I think this track is a continuation of Jekyll and Hyde, it has the same beat and tempo and yes, another heart breaking song from our boys, but this time the lyrics are darker and painful. A song about a cheating girl, damn! Why girl!! Why do that to my precious Dong Woo! Hahaha Anyway, I think these last two songs brought out Infinite H's soft and mature side. They are not just talking about love in general, but also the complicated sides of love like cheating and pride. They really are growing and becoming more manly and mature! Ack!!So much feels!! :p

In summary, I'm giving this an 8/10. Mianhe if I may have not share much about the songs and the album in general like my previous posts, well maybe because I'm still in cloud nine while listening to my boys (hahaha), but I really love this album. The long wait was definitely worth it and it is a good follow up of their first mini album. I also think, Hoya's singing improved a lot in this album, same to Dongwoo as well. There is no doubt, this album will rank high on charts. I'm hoping it will also get the recognition it deserves. Fighting Infinite H! Fighting Inspirits!!

Album Review: Jung Yong Hwa (CNBlue) "One Fine Day"

I know this review is kind of late, I've been busy at work lately, so yeah. Anywho, I'm still gonna share my insights about this album, because it somehow helped me overcome stress at work. So, kamsamnida my beloved Yong Hwa for helping me throughout those busy days. :)

On January 20, FNC Entertainment released Yong Hwa's first solo album, entitled "One Fine Day" It contains ten tracks all written by him with appearances from JJ Lin, Yoon Do Hyun, Verbal Jint, Peter Malick and YDG. Being known as the frontman/vocalist of his band CNBlue, plus his amazing songwriting skills, it was no doubt that this album is a must have among kpop fans (especially among BOICE).

So, shall we start? (P.S. This is once again and forever be based on my personal opinion and apparently taste and style of music, NO HATING please :))

Intro, well to be honest, there is nothing much to say about this track except for the fact that it preludes the next track "One Fine Day."

Next is this album's title track One Fine Day, upon hearing the first few seconds of the song, I know it will be heartbreaking, and I was right. From the lyrics itself down to its melody, beat and rhythm, it really is a sad song, like the songs that 2AM will sing or an OST of a  k-drama where the girl left the boy for some personal issues or what not. I really think it is a good song and somehow very relatable especially among the broken hearted ones who were still unable to completely forget and move on. This song even made me think about my past relationships, but just to let everyone know I have completely moved on and happy with my new found love :))

Cruel Memories, is one of the five songs where he collaborated with other artists. In this track, he collaborated with rocker Yoon Do Hyun of YB ( a famous rock bank in South Korea). Truth be told, I am not a rock music fan, but this song really caught my ears and I really like it. I really love how the instruments compliments Yong Hwa's smooth vocals and Do Hyun's raspy's voice and vice versa.

Energy, a pop-rock song where he collaborated with Verbal Jint and one my favorite tracks in this album. I love how light this song is, unlike the first two songs which really sounds sad but good for me, this one made me feel warm and cheery, and I also like the clever lyrics/words Yong Hwa used for this song, its like a confession, where he asks for the girl to be together with him for she is his source of energy. Aww, it made my heart skipped a beat, how about you? Haha

Next is Mileage, a collaboration with YDG (a rapper and an actor by the way). It is a pre-released track of this album that somehow garnered attention among kpopers because of its witty lyrics and relaxing sound. It is a given that Yong Hwa's voice sounds so sweet and relaxing in this song, and I know many will disagree with me on this, but I really like the drunken-tone/style of rapping YDG used here, I really think it suits the song in general. I maybe have a weird style of music but I really think that sweet voice and drunken rapping is a good combo for this song. Also based on my understanding of the lyrics of this song, the guy (husband) is asking his girl (wife) for a hall pass (like the movie);a night where he can be free and do whatever he wants. Haha. Pretty clever right?

Checkmate, another collaborated track with JJ Lin, a Singaporean singer-songwriter based in Taiwan. A straight rock song accompanied by electric guitars and their outstanding vocals. When I first heard this song on my ipod, I was really confused for I heard like three languages used for this song, which were korean, english and chinese. I really found it weird at first, then it gradually made its way to my ears and now I am repeatedly listening to it. And don't forget the lyrics, the song may sound harsh but the lyrics are sweetest. ;)

Next is Without You, another favorite track of mine or maybe the best song for me in this album. This song reminds me of CNBlue's Can't Stop, which I also love, maybe it's because of the piano I guess. There are 4 reasons why I really love this song, one is I love how the song started from a soft, piano-driven melody then gradually layer of sounds were added making the song more powerful. Second, the lyrics, I'm really amazed of Yonghwa's songwriting abilities, and this particular song, those words really hit the right spot. I like how he keeps on insisting that he is fine without her, that he is now living his life better without her, then at the end of the song, he takes everything back, and that he wants her back again to his side. I love his clever yet honest lyrics. It really feels sincere for me. Third, his voice, there is no denying of the fact that his voice is one of the best amongst all kpop idols/singers in the industry. His sweet and smooth tone is really perfect for this song, and I really love how his voice gradually progress from soft to a more powerful tone. His vocal range is indeed daebak!  Forth, the emotions/feelings, for some reason, everytime I hear this song, I can really feel what Yong Hwa is trying to say, that he is longing for love. This song is just full of pure feelings of love and longingness, its just daebak for me.

Last Leaf, another piano-driven track that gradually becomes upbeat. For me, I think this song was written by Yong Hwa for CNBlue to sing, it definitely has the CNBlue feels to it. The lyrics also gives me the feeling of warmth and security, like the feeling of being loved by someone plus the chorus part made me hit the repeat button for this song.

Goodnight Lover, this is definitely the most catchy song in this album, actually it's catchy and cheesy at the same time. From its repetitive lyrics and somewhat summer like feeling of the beat, LSS is on baby. I can also see myself listening to this while going to work or like having a road trip with my friends. I think I'll add this on my road trip playlist.

And last but definitely not the least, 27 Years with American Blues guitarist Peter Malick. A song about reminiscing the past, all those good beautiful days with your friends, the old happy times. I really think this song perfectly concludes this album, after listening to mostly sad love songs (which are good songs too by the way), there is no better way to refresh your ears with this feel-good and relaxing track. By listening to this song, it really does make you think about those old times.

Overall, I think this album showed Yonghwa's soft and sweet side, which I think is refreshing to see and hear. Aside from his amazing voice, I really commend his songwriting skills in this album, and for some reason it feels relatable. Some may think that this album didn't put up to their expectations of Yong Hwa, but for me it is a good debut album for him, maybe because it showed a different side of him for me which I like. I'm giving this a 7/10 and I'm looking forward for more beautiful songs not only from Yong Hwa but also from CNBlue. Fighting!
